Spelling Words with Suffixes
Students add a suffix to each base word and spell the new word, using the rules for dropping a silent e, doubling a consonant and changing y to i.
Student Objectives
- Drop the silent e before a suffix that starts with a vowel
- Double the final consonant after a short vowel
- Change y to i before most suffixes
- Know when a base word does not change
