About this worksheet
Each worksheet has 8 problems naming a figure as a point, line segment, ray, line or angle.
This worksheet asks children to name a figure as a point, line segment, ray, line or angle. What separates the five is entirely in the ends - one dot, two dots, one arrow, two arrows, or a shared vertex - so all five options are offered on every problem and the figure alone decides the answer. Withholding an option would let elimination stand in for looking, which is the skill being practiced. Sheets can be customized, turned into flash cards, or assigned for online learning.
Student objectives
- Tell a point, line segment, ray, line and angle apart.
- Use the ends of a figure to decide what it is.
- Recognize that a ray has one endpoint and a line has none.
Everyday practice
- Point out lines, rays and angles in a room or a photograph.
- Draw each of the five figures and label the endpoints.
- Explain what makes a ray different from a line.
