About this worksheet
Each worksheet has 18 expressions to evaluate for a given value of the variable.
This worksheet gives a value for the variable and an expression, and asks for the value of the expression. Half the expressions carry parentheses and half do not, on purpose: four times n plus seven and four times the quantity n plus seven are built from the same three numbers and give different answers, and telling them apart is the order of operations half of this standard. A sheet where every expression worked left to right would never find out whether a student is reading the brackets or ignoring them. Sheets can be customized, turned into flash cards, or assigned for online learning.
