About this worksheet
Each worksheet has 10 volumes where students select every rectangular prism that has it, written as dimensions.
This worksheet gives a volume and four sets of dimensions, and asks which of them have it - two or three do. It is the text version of the drawn sheet on the same idea: a student who has been reading pictures has to work from three numbers alone, which is where the multiplying actually happens. The correct answers are always different sets of dimensions rather than the same box relabelled, and the wrong volumes sit within a quarter of the target so that nothing can be ruled out by the size of the numbers.
Student objectives
- Find the volume of a rectangular prism.
- Recognize that different prisms can share a volume.
- Select every shape with a given volume.
Everyday practice
- Compare boxes that hold the same amount.
- Work out which package fits the same contents.
- Check whether two containers hold equally much.
