About this worksheet
Each worksheet has 12 problems naming the change between two decimals as 0.1, 0.01 or 0.001 more or less.
This worksheet gives two decimals and asks which change was made, running the usual question backwards - a student can find one tenth more than a number by nudging the right digit without ever deciding which place moved, but naming the change cannot be done without reading the place value off the difference. The wrong answers are the same amount in the wrong direction and the neighbouring places in the right one, so that reading the digit without the order, or the order without the place, both come out wrong. About half the pairs regroup, which is where naming the place is genuinely harder, because the digit that changed is not the digit that was added. Sheets can be customized, turned into flash cards, or assigned for online learning.
