About this worksheet
Each worksheet has 10 problems adding fractions with fraction strips, including a strip divided into the common denominator.
This worksheet adds two fractions using fraction strips. The two shaded strips state the problem and a third empty strip beneath them is cut into the common denominator, so laying the shaded lengths against it is what renaming to a common denominator actually looks like. All three strips are drawn to the same total length, since unequal wholes cannot be compared and the model would be misleading. Every answer is already in lowest terms so counting cells and reducing agree. Sheets can be customized, turned into flash cards, or assigned for online learning.
